songs that flop and songs that don't

Posted by Kiiri - March 17th, 2021

so my last song did awful, but both my previous songs did pretty well (front page and everything, one even got past a hundred listens on soundcloud... somehow). why, i wonder?

was it terrible? surely my production standards can't have declined that much in a month's time, and i feel it was fairly well composed (that's opinion-dependent tho)

maybe it was i didn't market it enough? i don't think so, i'm awful at marketing anything so i don't ever market my songs past tweeting a link to them and maybe a pic on instagram... although apparently not telling people when i sing in a song seems to affect whether they listen to it or not. i'm not so bad at singing tho

mayhaps it was some sort of evil algorithm keeping my song from the general public? i mean, it could be, i have no idea how the site works, not even if there is such an algorithm... there are many well-known platforms out there that have pretty wonky algorithms that favour clickbait over anything else, but i haven't come up with ways to clickbaitify my song titles yet

or it could just be that eveyone in this site is american and i posted it at a weird time so it just sank in the great ocean of songs without anyone listening to it

guess i'll never know

toodles
